One of the great attractions about buying a property in Noordhoek is the wide array of the leisure activities in this leafy suburb. Noordhoek plays home to a variety of leisure activities for the man, woman and children of the house. In addition, due to its location, Noordhoek is also close to most of Cape Town’s major tourist attractions.
Noordhoek – Leisure Facilities
Noordhoek Farm Village
Long loved by locals and now a “must visit” destination for the Cape Town tourist, the Noordhoek Farm Village is at the very centre of Noordhoek Village life.
For the beach lover
8 km of beach is enjoyed by horses, walkers, joggers and dogs. Go for a 2-hour horse-ride along the spectacular Noordhoek beach, enjoy a gentle walk or a vigorous run and, of course, watch in awe as the surfers and kite flyers do their thing. Never crowded and a wonderful setting for an ideal day out right on your doorstep.
View in awe
WOW! Chapman’s Peak Drive is top of the locations ‘black book’ of every photographer, film-maker and dreamer worldwide. It is no doubt on “the wish-list to tread” of every shoe and wheel and hence is included in the route of the Two Oceans Marathon and Cape Argus Cycle Tour. Its views are unrivalled and its presence a wonder of engineering and the best thing for those working in Cape Town … you can get to drive to along probably the best route to work and back twice a day.

- Cycling – The Cape is known for its many scenic cycling routes and many of the Noordhoek cycling routes should not be missed if you love the outdoors and need to get a bit of exercise. A warning though – many of the Noordhoek cycling routes are not for the faint-hearted and should best be tackled by experienced cyclers. One of the Noordhoek cycling routes where you will not even need your own cycle is Chapman’s Peak route. You can hire a cycle and then work your way up to the Chapman’s Peak summit before descending in Noordhoek or, if you prefer, Hout Bay. If it sounds too challenging, simply rent a cycle and ride the Noordhoek country roads with your family. Noordhoek is also part of the route of the famous Cape Argus Cycle Tour.
- Surfing – Noordhoek and Kommetjie have attracted many hard-core surfers to the area over the years. Most people in Cape Town who are serious about their surfing move to one of the two suburbs sooner or later. This is mainly because of the close proximity to uncrowded quality surf spots such as Dunes (Noordhoek Beach), Long Beach, Outerkom, Sunset (Kommetjie) and Scarborough Point. Big wave surfing conditions with waves in excess of 20ft are equally found in the area. Dungeons just off Sentinel in Hout Bay featured the Red Bull Big Wave event until recently once a year. If you decide to move to the area and are addicted to surfing get yourself a Wild Card, which gives free access to Cape Point Nature Reserve, a place known for its big swell and empty challenging waves in a magnificent setting.
- Running – whether it’s a gentle jog around Noordhoek’s country lanes, or the more serious runner in training for the Two Ocean marathon, Noordhoek has it all.
